Hey, How’s Your Skincare Routine Holding Up?

It’s uncanny: The day I began to social distance from people was the day I started social distancing from my beauty routine, too. At this point my makeup routine is almost nonexistent, and even my skincare routine has taken a hit. Skincare has always been my source of normalcy in weird, complicated times. And yet these days, I’m finding that instead of going all out with my routine, I’m doing the exact opposite. Is it just…me? I reached out to my colleague and fellow skincare die-hard Ali Oshinsky to check in on her routine. The following is a conversation we had 1,300 miles away from each other, in the comfort of our own sweatpants:

“I also brought three tank tops, a pair of jeans I have not put on my body and do not plan to, and bare minimum skincare”

“Wait a sec…are you saying that you didn’t apply body lotion before the time of covid?”

“I think what it comes down to is that skincare has never been a self care thing for me. It’s always been a ‘do this so you don’t break out’ or ‘do this because it’s your job’ thing.”
